1. Can I use only the same key to unlock the bike and the trunk?
Yes, you can do that. You need to go to your local Harley dealership, configure a new lock, and then switch to the trunk. Similarly, the same goes for TCMT's saddlebags.
2. Do I need to install a base plate on my king trunk?
